So, sixth form parents evening … both of the co-teachers to my AS-Level groups were either busy being senior management types or being very ill so I took on most of my sixth formers appointments. They were scary-fied at times but I still got through them. Thoroughly owed a large glass of wine or a large cake after all that.
In other news we have had a pre-inspection … sorry … beg pardon … pre-inquisition. I was pulled in as an NQT to be interviewed and the questioning was more than a little investigatory. Ended up telling the woman she was making me very uncomfortable with her questioning and he just kept rephrasing them until I cracked. *sigh*. Luckily department are very supportive and find the inquisition rather amusing.
Also attended a course on Friday in the University Arms Hotel (very nice! All open fire places, high arches and ballrooms) to moderate coursework. Discovered that what constitutes a “C” in AS-Level language is disgusting, things like this seep through: “I used Burberry because it’s a pun”. Argued with the guy … the C still stands. Bugger. Just means that my group are getting high marksbut they are totally inept.
Furthermore a new spider has moved into Charlotte’s Web. It’s small and black and I have named it Spanner. I don’t like Spanner as much as Charlotte as Spanner has not proved his worthiness by catching anything worthwhile. I think he’s just squatting so he can eye up Buglet the Ladybird who’s still stuck in our lampshade, thriving on the corpses of dead flies who think lightbulb headbutting is a valid career choice.
There is just too much marking and crap to do at the moment. Bah. Which means no long post for me.
We also put up our Christmas decorations with our tiny tree. It looks so cute. Will post pictures at some point.
