Hello everyone! I was lucky enough to get a Netbook some months back for my birthday, and love it to pieces. But it's really hard to find good wallpapers that are 1024x600, which is the resolution I prefer to use. So I made some!
I'm no graphics-master, by any means. These are mostly just resized/cropped pictures from Salty Dog 6, shared by the lovely gals at saiyuki_manga. But you guys are more than welcome to use them, if you can/want.

Well it's been a while since I last updates, so what has gone on.

Well first off, I have gone a small extension to my contract at work. It's only 7 weeks, but it means I'll get paid, have more time to do finsih off the work which could lead to publications, plus I'll have some opportunities to apply for grants. I'd really like to stay on at the eastman, not least because there is virtually no lectures to give as we have few undergrad students, which is always a plus. I just wish some of the new PhD students had slightly more common sense than a glass of water.

I have acquired a male dress form. Gosh, does that mean more costumes? Unlikely, but it does mean that it'll make it slightly easier for me to make them (to my exacting standards, lol).

The exercise regime is a bit up and down. On the down side I still haven't had time to get back to martial arts although I am considering finding a class that starts a bit later now as it's difficult to leave work at 4:30pm to get there in time. They allow me to do that which is great, but I can never seem to actually get around to it anymore. I also need to really look in to gymnastics again. I did it for a couple of years when I was younger and was really good, I was even asked to join the team but alas I was too old. There are adult classes not too far from us and I really enjoyed it when I was training so I think it would help if I got back in to it. I have an excess of energy that needs to be purged or I get frustrated, bit like a rope being twisted and twisted.

However, there is good exercise news. Growing up I was always disappointed by the muscle strength I've had in my arms. I have been making a concerted effort to increase my arm strength over the past few months since I came back from peru. Well the good news is that I have managed to progress to handstand press-ups! Unbelievable! I never thought I'd get that far so quickly, but I was always intending to build stamina rather than bulk. I'd prefer to be slightly weaker but maintain it for much longer than be immensely strong for just 10 secs. So I've been aiming for a more martial art or athetic body type and it seems to be heading in that direction.

As you already know, we are not attending the ball this year. Costuming as a whole as been very slow at the moment. I still intend to get Kilik from SC4 done, and the dress form will help. I was also considering Lord Mao fro Disgaea 3, since annette's been playing it and pointed out the similarities between us. I don't see them personally :P I have a couple of other plans but we'll see.

Well that's it for now, I can't get too carried away.

I am trying to brainstorm a list of texts that explore themes of persuasion, propaganda, media influence, etc. They don't have to be classics; finding books that students actually enjoy is my priority in this case. Suggestions for nonfiction works, documentaries, and other material on the topic are also welcome. I teach high school, but I have some kids who read at a much lower level and some who read at a college level, so all suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

I'm about to teach Literature for the very first time for five transition classes and I've got the scope to do whatever I want. I've decided to interpret Bob Dylan lyrics since it's a good quick introduction to Literature and poetry analysis...

Because there are a tonne of fantastic Dylan songs and lyrics, I'm having a bit of trouble deciding what to choose.

Some advice would be great. What three-to-five Bob Dylan songs should I choose to analyse and why?

To be fair, I did get one side solved and all the edge colours lined up properly without having to cheat.

Anyway, I'm back in the country now. My flight was slightly delayed due to fog and winds but otherwise alright. I've been to the supermarket to restock my fridge and caught up on Merlin and Dr Who.

Travelling is good, but I wouldn't want to do it every week.

If I could be guaranteed a child like this, I'd happily have a million of them. A MILLION, I SAY.
