Using K-chans shiny bonus we bought a tv! 37 inchs of LCD joy and it's the latest Samsung model too which should be good for soul eater episodes, even though all the fansub site are being shut down ... see I would actually be happier if funimation would hurry up and actually release the boxset, I would part with my cashmonies!

I also enjoyed the Family Party we have every year at my Aunts. It was nice to see the family again even if I was coughing like a goodun (so much so it made me sicky) but one the way back we invaded a Tamworth Shopping Park and poked and prodded a tv until we found one we liked ... then bought it off play.com which seems to be the natural order of things. I think new TV will be called Aka-chan.

Tomorrow I go shopping for a make up case (True Excitement(tm)) as since I am earning a salary I decided that I would upgrade some of my make-up, not that I wear it much anyway. So out went the nine-year old clumpy mascara ... yes I know ... followed by the What-Were-You-Thinking shades of eyeshadow from a brand that no longer exists. Chibi likes to think she is growing up and she is certainly becoming more mature recently, she got all excited over bath towers in Tescos today (we felt so old, me and K-chan complained about the price of toilet rolls and gin in the aisles)

And buggery LJ has swallowed most of my input... bastards

We are staying in for New Years - hopefully christening a new telly ... any peeps fancy joining us, drop us a line.

Happy Yule everyone.

I was surprised to see that people get incredibly suspicious around Christmas. In the wilderness that is the town centre, family groups huddle together over their plastic encased carcasses with only the strongest member of pack venturing out to gather more carcasses to hoard over the winter.

The victims of this christmas period are tiny little animal that lurk the plains. Known as Cashmonies they try to disguise themselves in the walls of buildings but people break from their groups, attack them, tapping at them and forcing out their cashmoney innards. Once they have got these innards they lunge at other territories, seeking to steal more sustenance, bribing the other animals with the innards.

To me, observer of social performances (otherwise known as nosy staring sod) this is interesting and infuriating in turn. Seeing one set of 30-something women all running around Gloucester like mad things with bags and ahead of me in Waterstones, insisting on the gift-wrapping service to be moved downstairs because they can't get down the staircase with all their shopping ... also complaining that the Peter Kaye biography was cheaper in here two weeks ago and would they do a price match with Tesco?
Bewildered Sales Lady: We don't do price match, I'm sorry, and our prices are detirmined by head office."
30-something-woman-who-hasn't-had-it-in-months-and-judging-by-the-Anne-Summers-bag-isn't
-looking-at-nookie-over-christmas-either: This is terrible service, I thought you'd be grateful for the service.
Stupid Ohajiki clutching her Literacy Toolkit, free range eggs and a small trees worth of mistletoe: *Snicker*
30-Something-Leviathan: What's your problem? *bags woggle ominously* You'll have to wait.
Ohajiki trying to hide smirk and frantically repressing giggle: *snaps off twig of misteltoe, hands it to woman and goes to other till to pay for Literacy Kit*

Of course then that put me in a fun frame of mind. Decided that people are far too cranky this time of year. Let's spread some joy (probably the prozac talking)
Here is that hour of Ohajiki's life when she lapses into a manic/weird ass/charity mood.

10.55 - Exits Waterstones, thinks up great idea of spreading joy.
10:57 - Trots down to city centre Sainsburys
10:58 - Decides to take a detour to the Cathedral and gives sprig of misteltoe to random priest (no idea of rank) and say "From a pagan to a christian" and then stroll off (Ohajiki still kicking herself over this)
11:01 - Arrives in Sainsburys, buys four boxes of Shallow Mince Pies and two packets of Candy Canes and a bottle of Coke (that's for me).
11:08 - Big Issue Seller outside Sainsburys left bemused by weird lady handing over box of Mince Pies with a grin.
11:13 - People in Mind Shop welcome Pie and praise Pie.
11:17 - Screaming seven year old and harassed parent weirded out by candy cane, look at Ohajiki like she trying to poison them.
11:18 - St Anne's Vineyard Market Lady pleased with Candy Cane.
11:20 - Citizen seller offers Cadburys Minature Hero for Candy Cane. Give seller some misteltoe too.
11:22 - Big Issue seller beside Marks and Sparks looking pleased with pie.
11:25 - Random lady-who-looks-like-my-Nana buying tiny bits of veg on market stall not sure what to make of pie but takes pie with smile.
11:29 - Three of Ohajiki's pupils get candy canes, they know Miss is tapped so it happy to receive candy.
11:36 - St Johns Methodist Chruch serving tea pleased by box of pie.
11:45 - Miserable-looking man at bus stop gets candy cane, look at Ohajiki like she psycho.
11:50 - Ohajiki gets bus, gives Bus Driver last-but-one candy cane. Bus Driver like candy cane.
11:55 - Last candy cane goes to bundled-up child on bus who can barely grip cane in mittens. Mother finds it funny and thanks Ohajiki.
11:58 - Ohajiki finishes her book on bus and strolls home taking care not to break 6 Happy Farm Eggs and not trip over the misteltoe bush which is still substantial.

Hey it's not much and I suppose I could have done something a lot more useful but still ... the reactions made me laugh and a couple of people seemed thankful.

Presents wrapped ... I want to buy lots more too.

Oh and B3ta was a haivng a school trip memory thread so just for [info]miss_archivist Millipedes, Hairspray, Auschwitz the Youth Hostel, Couples watching Porn over the road, Ms T. swearing, Alan ... and one little memory for myself "The Sociology Mobile" and "Can he sign our Haralambos and Holborn??!"
