In other news, we have finally started house-hunting with our first one being an excellent find with all the weaknesses trotted out later. Chibi has worked out the following estate agent types (moved to separate entry to incorporate NEW ENCOUNTERS (ooh)

Hopefully this 3 bedroomed house we are first on the list for viewing will work out ... and then look out for solicitor types

loveless
We went to Ikea today, driving all the way to Milton Keynes to do so.  Shows the lengths we will go to to get a funky bookcase (it's black with white snowflakes printed on it). K-chan has never been to Ikea before and was pretty stunned by the maze-quality and sheer level of crowds. However he did seem appreciative of the Weird Stuff(tm) being marketed and we found humour in those people trying to make their house look individual by copying everyone else.

On Saturday we went to London for the day with the intention of getting Fortnum and Masons coffee (K-chan's one addiciton being very good coffee, I cannot begrudge him this as I spent God-Knows-How-Much on books and manga) and heading  to Portbello Road to pick up and pay for our antique wall clock (a memory of K-chan's grandfather).

We found Portobello absolutely rammed with every kind of tourist, being fobbed off with all kinds of cheap tat(tm) and taking pictures of the "Don't take pictures" signs and the Clock Guy who wasn't terribly keen when we went in until we mentionned that we were serious and then he couldn't do enough for us. We have one compeltely cleaned and re-conditioned clock being hand-delivered next week and we sat in a bar in Kensington making Yorkshire War Cries at the price of the drinks we had.

And that's it really, our interesting life. Comes to something when the higlight of our weekend was putting our dvds into order of genre and ensuring that when two genres are next to each other the two films next to each have to be linked in some way. Actually, we did have on achievement in making what was, quite possibly, the best salmon fillet ever on Friday night. Yes, I know, total win.

Oh and we saw the Wolverine film on Thursday, my rating was about a 5 out of 10. Not bad with enjoyable bits in places but also accompanied by some quite appalling CG in places and nowhere near enough Gambit. We had one cool moment and then ... nothing ... plus the completely absent bayou accent that every little girl loved in the early 90s.
9th-Nov-2008 09:24 pm - Hallucinatory Spiders,
loveless
On Wednesday night about half past midnight my darling Kchan became convinced there was a giant spider on our ceiling. Being the concerned sweetheart he is he immediately woke me (just as a sidenote Chibi was sleeping quite peacefully, drifting into dreams and have recently had a couple of major insomnia issues in the last few months, no pressure) and turfed me out of bed whilst he looked for said spider. Cue a rather dazed and confused Chibi stood outside the bedroom believing World War III had occured in the bedroom. K-chan explained, Chibi (not the biggest spider-lover in the world) immediately concerned and envisioning ideas of napalming the entire bedroom in order to get some sleep.

Bedroom napalm averted after K-chan reassures Chibi that there is no spider and goes back into bedroom. Chibi checks entire flat for spiderage and after flushing  some black fluff down the toilet just in case of spiderage creeps back into the bedroom (further sidenote, our flat seems to to be Party Destination Number 1 for every type of spider and moth so Chibi's weirdness is justified) and slips back into bed.

1:30 am and Chibi is still not asleep launching into insomnia. Kchan meanwhile, being so proud of his Spider Hating Instrinsic Task Expedition (SHITE) , has merrily gone back to sleep and as full recognition of Acute Manliness(tm) has sprawled across the entire bed. Chibi is not amused and shoves Kchan over to his side which simply provokes a mumble of happiness and an adjustment into an L-shape which still take sup the bed.

After further spider checks (just to be sure) Chibi gives up on natural sleep and raids the pill box.

Kchan very guilty (or at least he said he was between laughing)

The only acceptable spider in our house is Charlotte. She is a wolf spider who lives in the corner of the bedroom and keeps the room free of mothage, fly-age and general bug-age. She is acceptable.

In other news, my form have been locked out until Christmas due to trashing it one too many times. This time it involved other members of Year 11 two baguettes and a broken ceiling tile. Form group tight-lipped over names and so the lot has been locked out. (obviously as revenge, four of them set off the next day to trash the other forms rooms).

Luckily it was an English department decision so I could wash my hands of it. Sadly though it means no Christmas decorations in my teaching room, it's too much stimulation for a group who are in too much trouble as it is. One lad I could quite cheerfully garrotte with his own tie (when he's away I have a great deal of trouble trying to be concerned for his whereabouts).

Although most of the kids have met K-chan  as he came to Battle of the Bands on Thursday night (very loud and very good, with a Year 8 and sixth collaborative band being more professional than any pub band I have EVER seen). The general consensus is "handsome".

We also went to see the Midsummer Common fireworks on Wednesday night. Excellent fireworks and great fun on the funfair. Getting out of Cambridge proved the murder though, although we did bump into Elliott which was pleasant surprise. Elliott is the most contradictory guy I know in terms of being the most crazy and yet still the most detirmined and stable. It's odd. We condoled him on the exploding of his car (a sweet little Clio called Nicole).

Dantes is fine by the way (getting increasingly worried for him; a lot of nearby cars seem to be committing suicide and this cannot be good for his mental health, I should get a signed picture of James May for his dashboard or something).

In other news I bought a USB-powered Christmas Tree ... it's utterly adorable and currently shining on my bedside table and I am making Kchan a coffee cosy in the shape of a cat for christmas.

Kchan has assured me he will not hallucinate Giant Spiders on our ceiling tonight or will leave me sleeping in case of that eventually.
