... snuggled up with K-chan despite the heat.... the heat was and is unbearable.
We set out on friday at about 3 O'clock, after me picking up my P45 and wages (at last I can go into the pub and not have to think of a creative answer for "Do you think you could work ....") and drove the scenic route to Wokingham, passing through lots of pretty pretty villages en rotue and stopping at a pub with a thatched roof for cider shadies before carrying on. We then stopped at Wokingham to wish his mother happy birthday and stay for tea before carrying onto Cambridge.
Also attended the ARM barbeque. Free food, drink and fun stuff. K-chan got adopted on the bouncy mansion by a four year old. We set up vendettas on the dodgems and I made a new friend, fellow ARM widow and anime fan (yayyayay) Vicky which was nice, although she probably ranks high on the fan scale than I do. Our two boyfriends work together so we meditated on the idea of turning up in fifties-style dresses with bobbed hair and lunchboxes saying "Darling, you've forgotten your lunch"
And had a picnic at Wandlebury Park at the beginning of the week too, very relaxing and peaceful in the shade of a nice big beech twee and snuggling with K-chan.
I managed to get lost in London after exiting at the wrong tube station. I got off at Tottenham Court Road and should have gone to Leicester Square. So I decided to wander, to find forbidden planet and the nice french cake shop nearby (tasteh!). I wandered for awhile and ended up in Charing Cross Road with lots and lots and lots of bookshops *dribble*. I was flying in and out of them like crazy, finally dropping down Denmark Street, exhausted and on a reading high, turning a corner and bumping into the air-conditioned Forbidden Planet. Yay!
However the joys of travelling to Paddington made them sevles known when the Circle Line went down, followed immediately by a halved service on the district line. Now forgive me, but London is trying to encourage people to use publich transport and then immediately shuts down part of the underground due to congestion. It worries me.
So we all get sent to the nubmer 27 bus which is actually the Nubmer 27 Sauna ... minus birch twigs, towels and eucalyptus oil. It did have a nun though ...
Hopped off at Paddington Station onto a £20 note. Woo! So treated self to Yo! Sushi on the sushi loop, something I've always wanted to try but never had the money. I had Kappa Maki, Salmon Nigiri, Odangos in a well tasty Katsu sauce, a littel yakisoba pot and some little Mochi cakes
And now to playscheme next week, need to talk brother into practising hairbraiding.
